A robot with human level
artificial intelligence is a robot that can do any
human task. It can drive a car, fly a plane, cook in
a restaurant, play videogames, play boardgames, etc.
Building a robot that can do any human task is the
holy grail of Artificial Intelligence.
This video is silent
because I wanted the viewers to see the thoughts of
the robot while playing the game. The robot's
conscious is the voice in his head that gives
instructions or information. This conscious allows
the robot to play the game in an intelligent manner.
This video depicts
the robot playing golf. He knows that he is playing
golf on a videogame and the controller controls the
character in the game. The robot can also play real
golf in the real world, but that video is for another
day.
During the game,
lessons from teachers activate in the robot's
conscious. For example, at the beginning the robot's
conscious give instructions to plan his linear
strokes. Next, he uses golf knowledge of what clubs
to use for each stroke. During each stroke, the robot
is also calculating on how hard to hit the ball to
get it to a destination location.
The skill to play
golf is primarily experience. The robot has to
practice hitting balls repeatedly and store pathways
in memory to get a ball from the current location to
a destination location.
The robot can play
"any" golf course and play golf using "any" media --
he can play golf in a videogame or play golf in the
real world. The instructions to play golf in a
videogame is very similar to playing real golf. The
only major difference is the motor functions of the
robot. In a videogame the robot has to move it's
hands to control a character in the videogame. In
real life, the robot has to move his entire body to
play golf. However, the instructions of rules,
objectives and so forth related to golf are virtually
identical for both media types.
