This video depicts a
human robot playing a videogame called ninja gaiden
for Nintendo (the original NES). I'm trying to show
how the robot thinks when he is playing a videogame.
The robot is playing
the final boss from ninja gaiden and he is playing
the boss for the first time. As people who played
ninja gaiden should know, there is a specific
strategy that must be used in order to beat the final
boss. The robot has to use adaptive pathways from
memory to identify strategies and to use them to beat
the boss. He has to discover this unique strategy on
his own to beat the final boss.
After going through
several trial and error, the robot has formulated
patterns and strategies that are good and bad in the
game. He will ultimately use the good strategies to
beat the final boss.
This video shows the
robot has the ability to adapt to the environment. It
has a goal, which was to beat the final boss. In
order to beat the final boss, the robot has to
identify weak spots on the monster. He tries to hurt
the monster using common knowledge of playing
videogames (such as hit head, hit tail, hit back
etc). Once weaknesses are found on the monster, the
robot can form strategies that he can use to defeat
the boss quickly.
